Softball Recap: Lathrop Takes a Loss

After soaring to 12 runs the game before, Lathrop was a bit more limited in their match on Thursday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ben Holt College Prep Academy Bobcats.

Maci De Costa put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

De Costa wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Luz DeLuna, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Lathrop's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Ben Holt College Prep Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lathrop will take on Central Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Ben Holt College Prep Academy, they will face off against Venture Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Bobcats surely won't give up without a fight.
