Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Cordarius Molten and Jase Matthews Lead Greene County to Victory

There's no place like home for Greene County, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against the Moss Point Tigers by a score of 61-48 on Tuesday. With that victory, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 50.4 points per game.

Greene County was led to victory by Jase Matthews and Cordarius Molten. Matthews went 6 for 9 on his way to 19 points along with seven boards and four steals, while Molten posted 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals. That's the most points Matthews has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tony Mcleod, who scored six points.

Greene County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive games.

William Rogers and Jujuan Nettles certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Rogers put up 13 points and five rebounds, while Nettles went 7 of 15 en route to 17 points. Nettles is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Kevon Ford was another key player, putting up six points.

Greene County now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Moss Point, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Greene County Wildcats challenge the Bay Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Moss Point, they will face off against Pass Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
