Recap: Mars Fightin' Planets vs. Central Valley Warriors
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Mars Fightin' Planets walked away with it. They came out on top against Central Valley by a score of 24-14 on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for Mars who now have seven in a row.
Mars' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Evan Wright led the charge by rushing for 123 yards and two touchdowns. Wright is absolutely dominating the rushing yard category: he's posted at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season. Cole Yoshioka did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 81 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Mars' win bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Central Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.
Mars will square off against Aliquippa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Aliquippa presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mars in Pennsylvania (Aliquippa is ranked 16th, while Mars is ranked 63rd). Central Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
