Preview: El Camino Wildcats vs. Carlsbad Lancers

El Camino has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Carlsbad Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. El Camino will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 160th, while Carlsbad is ranked seventh).

On Tuesday, El Camino lost to La Costa Canyon at home by a decisive 63-48 margin.

Despite the loss, El Camino got a solid performance out of Isaiah Pomare, who scored 14 points. Terrion Woodard was another key contributor, scoring eight points.

Meanwhile, Carlsbad waltzed into their match on Tuesday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat San Dieguito Academy 81-43 on the road. Carlsbad has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 21 points or more this season.

El Camino's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Carlsbad, they pushed their record up to 18-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

El Camino came up short against Carlsbad when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 63-57. Can El Camino avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
