After a string of eight wins, Putnam Valley's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They came up short against the Yorktown Huskers, falling 9-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 6-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2016.

James Sanford was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Putnam Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 12-2. As for Yorktown, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Putnam Valley will face off against Clarkstown South at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 3.1, the Vikings 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Yorktown, they will take on Carmel at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
