Basketball Recap: Chief Ivan Blunka Comes Up Short

Chief Ivan Blunka was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 19th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost to the Z John Williams Hawks at home by a 66-47 margin. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Hawks are ranked fourth).

Z John Williams found their leader in freshman Adalyn Samuelson, who posted 28 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hilary Larson, who had 16 points.

Chief Ivan Blunka's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Z John Williams, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.

Coming up, Chief Ivan Blunka will square off against Newhalen at 6:00 p.m. on February 13th. As for Z John Williams, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-54 loss against Scammon Bay on the 7th.
