Soccer Game Preview: Houston Academy vs. Providence Christian

The Houston Academy Raiders are taking a road trip to challenge the Providence Christian Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Houston Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over Mobile Christian. Nate Selig was a massive factor in the win as he booted in five goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, Providence Christian came tearing into Tuesday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Warriors get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. Given Providence Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked 86th, while Cottage Hill Christian Academy are ranked 222nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Houston Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 18 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 116 goals over those 18 contests. As for Providence Christian, their win bumped their record up to 16-3-4.
