Baseball Game Preview: Brentwood Academy Eagles vs. Pope John Paul II Knights

The Brentwood Academy Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Pope John Paul II Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Brentwood Academy will be strutting in after a win while Pope John Paul II will be coming in after a loss.

On Tuesday, Brentwood Academy needed a bit of extra time to put away Father Ryan. They had just enough and edged out the Irish 6-5. Surprisingly, this marked the third straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Brentwood Academy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keaton Uggla, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Joey Ansell also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Pope John Paul II was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Friendship Christian, falling 13-7.

Nate Webb was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Turner, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Pope John Paul II's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Brentwood Academy, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-6.

Brentwood Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Pope John Paul II when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. Will Brentwood Academy repeat their success, or does Pope John Paul II have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
