Volleyball Recap: Alton Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Alton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Southwestern Piasa Birds. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Piasa Birds this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 on Saturday.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Alton sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-20, 19-25, 25-21.

Despite the loss, Alton still got an impressive performance from Lucy Lehmann, who had 25 digs. Angelina Dulaney also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Alton's defeat dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Southwestern, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alton will head out to face off against Collinsville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Southwestern, they will venture away from home to challenge Pana at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Piasa Birds surely won't give up without a fight.
