Softball Recap: Walnut Comes Up Short

Walnut lost against Alcorn Central last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Walnut Wildcats came up short against the Alcorn Central Bears, falling 8-2. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Walnut saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Allie Jackson, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3. Matti Mayo also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Walnut now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Alcorn Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Walnut Wildcats take on Ripley Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Walnut is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season. Alcorn Central will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Mantachie at 6:30 p.m. on April 1st.
