Winona Christian and Winston Academy are an even 4-4 against one another since August of 2015, but not for long. The Stars are taking a road trip to square off against the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Winona Christian is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
On Friday, Winona Christian was fully in charge, breezing past Oak Hill Academy 33-6. The result was nothing new for the Stars, who have now won six games by 27 points or more so far this season.

Will Irwin was his usual excellent self, rushing for 175 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per carry. His rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 104 rushing yards.
Irwin was just one part of a punishing run game: Winona Christian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 253 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 167 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 40 points the game before, Winston Academy was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They lost to Lamar on the road by a 27-12 margin. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 211th, while the Raiders are ranked 93rd).
Although Winston Academy took the loss, they still got scores from Kingsley Ashford and Beau Boatner.
Winona Christian's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Winston Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
Friday's game might be decided in the trenches. Winona Christian has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 205.8 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Winston Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 76.8 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Winona Christian took a serious blow against Winston Academy in their previous matchup back in September of 2022, falling 35-6. Can the Stars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
