Softball Recap: Atascocita Wins Going Away Against Channelview

While Atascocita put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Channelview. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Falcons. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Abigail Ruiz looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ashlee Elizarraras, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Cailynn Ruzick was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Atascocita and bumps their season record up to 22-5. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Channelview, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-13.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Atascocita is set to face off against their familiar foe Goose Creek Memorial at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 2.8, the Patriots 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Channelview will challenge rival King at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
