Volleyball Preview: Harmony Longhorns vs. Poinciana Eagles

Harmony has gone 9-1 against Poinciana recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Harmony Longhorns will host the Poinciana Eagles at 6:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Harmony's favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Poinciana has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

Last Friday, it was close, but Harmony sidestepped Bayside for a 3-2 win.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Harmony who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 19-25, 25-15, 18-25, 15-12.

Harmony can attribute much of their success to Adriana Amy, who had 19 digs and two aces, and Yareliz Castro, who had 12 digs and three aces. Amy is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in the last three games she's played dating back to last season.

Harmony was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in eight consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Poinciana came up short against Celebration on Tuesday and fell 3-1.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Celebration scored at least 17 points in every set. The final score came out to 28-26, 25-17, 21-25, 25-17.

Harmony's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Poinciana, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.
