Softball Recap: Elgin Victorious

Elgin won the last time they faced Upper Scioto Valley and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Comets walked away with a 13-10 victory over the Rams. With that win, the Comets brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.

Madison Hill made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 4-for-6 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Madisyn Hill was excellent, going 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Melody Hicks also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Elgin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Elgin and bumps their season record up to 4-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Upper Scioto Valley, their loss was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elgin will square off against Perry at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Upper Scioto Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kenton at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
