If Herlong wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Loyalton, they should've done a better job of containing Blaine Morgan. The Grizzlies blew past the Vikings 38-12 on Saturday for which the team can thank Morgan, who rushed for 215 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 71-yard run.
Loyalton didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Sawyer Stockdale and Sterling Wilkinson.
The victory made it two in a row for Loyalton and bumps their season record up to 2-1. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 18 points in those games. As for Herlong, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Loyalton will venture away from home to take on Sierra Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Herlong, they will square off against Happy Camp at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The game will give the Vikings their first taste of in-conference action this season.
