Baseball Recap: Bishop Stang Gets the Win

Bishop Stang won against Fairhaven on Thursday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Spartans walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Archbishop Williams Bishops. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-3 back in April.

Matt Burt was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

In other pitching news, Devin Lord looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

Back at the plate, Tommy Guenette was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Brock Winslow, who went 3-for-4 with two runs.

Bishop Stang was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Bishop Stang's win bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Archbishop Williams, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

Bishop Stang will head out on the road to face off against Bishop Fenwick at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Archbishop Williams, they will host Arlington Catholic at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
