Basketball Recap: Smiths Station Takes a Loss

Smiths Station lost against Central back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Smiths Station Panthers were outmatched by the Central Red Devils and fell 70-42. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Smiths Station still got an impressive performance from Chantell Barnes, who posted eight points and ten rebounds. Erica Robinson was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Smiths Station smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

It was another big night for Jabria Lindsey, who almost dropped a double-double with 31 points and nine assists for Central. Lindsey has been hot for a while, having posted 16 or more points the last 31 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kandria Mebuge, who went 5 for 7 to rack up 13 points.

Smiths Station's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Central beat Smiths Station by a score of 71-56 on Wednesday.
