Fairview starts season with victory against Harpeth

Fairview gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They blew past the Harpeth Indians 13-2. This was payback for Fairview, who suffered a 7-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Ashlyn Corbin tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up two earned runs off six hits.

At the plate, Maddie McGowan and Anna Marie Brown did most of the damage at the plate: McGowan fired off two home runs and two additional RBI while going 2-for-3, while Brown went 4-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Penning, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.

On Harpeth's side, Lilly Stinson and Molly Lane did some serious damage despite the final result: Stinson scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Lane scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Harpeth are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.

Fairview will be playing in front of their home fans against Waverly Central at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Harpeth, they will head out on the road to challenge Hickman County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Harpeth is facing Hickman County at the right time seeing as Hickman County is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
