Baseball Recap: Elmwood Park Comes Up Short

Elmwood Park fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against West Chicago on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 5-4. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 8-5.

Elmwood Park saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leobel Chan, who went 1-for-4 with one double.

Elmwood Park's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11-1. As for West Chicago, they moved to 6-17 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elmwood Park will venture away from home to take on Streamwood at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for West Chicago, they will head out to square off against Glenbard West at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hilltoppers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.63 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
