Preview: Northeastern Clinton Cougars vs. Saranac Spartans

Northeastern Clinton and Saranac are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Northeastern Clinton Cougars will be playing at home against the Saranac Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Friday, Northeastern Clinton came up short against Saranac Lake and fell 58-45. Northeastern Clinton has struggled against Saranac Lake recently, as their matchup on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite their defeat, Northeastern Clinton saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jordan Brown, who scored 21 points, was perhaps the best of all. Max Rabideau was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.

Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought game, but Saranac had to settle for a 54-52 loss against Moriah on Friday. While losing is never fun, Saranac can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 568th, while Moriah is ranked 65th).

Northeastern Clinton's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-6. As for Saranac, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.

Northeastern Clinton didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Saranac in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 63-59 victory. Does Northeastern Clinton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Saranac turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
