Baseball Game Preview: Carrollton Cavaliers vs. Montrose Rams

The Carrollton Cavaliers are taking a road trip to challenge the Montrose Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Monday, Carrollton didn't have quite enough to beat Nouvel Catholic Central and fell 6-5. The loss continues a trend for the Cavaliers in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost four in a row.

Eli Simons made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Ethan Hebl also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Millington hit Montrose with a six-run fifth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rams lost 11-1 to the Cardinals. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Montrose saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Gross, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. Gross is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last four games he's played.

Montrose's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Carrollton, their loss dropped their record down to 1-16.

Carrollton was able to grind out a solid win over Montrose when the teams last played back in April of 2023, winning 7-4. Will the Cavaliers repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
