Softball Recap: Harlan's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

It was a good run, but Harlan unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They lost 8-1 to the O'Connor Panthers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Hawks have suffered since April 9, 2024.

Harlan saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sarah Almazan, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Harlan's defeat dropped their record down to 13-4. As for O'Connor, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 14-2.

Harlan and O'Connor should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Harlan will square off against Marshall at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday up 808 places (49 vs. 857). Meanwhile, O'Connor (ranked 42nd) will meet Brennan (ranked 181st) at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. O'Connor is on a 12-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), Brennan a three-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
