Baseball Recap: Villa Grove Falls to Oakwood in First Game of Season

Villa Grove unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Oakwood Comets by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The Blue Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Comets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Villa Grove saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jesse Gire, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Coming up, Villa Grove will be playing at home against Westville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Oakwood, they will head out to challenge Casey-Westfield at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
