Elmwood Park scored the most points they've had this season on Monday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of the Westmont Sentinels by a score of 49-47. The Tigers were not able to make up for their loss to the Sentinels from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Westmont's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Danielle Hoover, who posted 12 points along with seven boards and seven steals. The dominant performance gave Hoover a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Payeton Pickens, who scored 20 points and four steals.

Elmwood Park has been struggling recently as they've lost 15 of their last 17 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-20 record this season. As for Westmont, they pushed their record up to 14-9 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Elmwood Park Tigers face off against the Wheeling Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Elmwood Park is facing Wheeling at the right time seeing as Wheeling is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Westmont, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Cristo Rey Jesuit at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
