Texas high school softball strikeout leaders: Dartmouth pledge Jensin Hall of Heritage tops leaderboard

Katy Sanders of Hamshire-Fannett and Arlette Hernandez of La Joya among pitchers nearing 300 Ks.

Junior pitcher Jensin Hall leads Texas in strikeouts but it's a close race with two other standout hurlers.

The right-hander from Heritage (Frisco) has 298 strikeouts in 132 innings to edge Katy Sanders, a junior from Hamshire-Fannett (Hamshire), and La Joya freshman Arlette Hernandez, who have 295 and 293, respectively.

Hall, a Dartmouth commit, is 24-1 with a 0.53 ERA and 45 hits allowed and 40 walks. She's struck out at least 10 batters 16 times, including her last five outings. Her high strikeout game was 17 in a 10-0 win over Centennial.

Sanders is 23-3 with a 0.97 ERA over 165.2 innings. She's struck out at least 10 batters 14 times with a high of 16. She's also quite a hitter with a .477 batting average (42 of 88) with seven home runs, 14 doubles and 43 RBI.

Likewise, Hernandez is a star on the mound and the plate. She's 22-3 and a 1.33 ERA in in 163.2 innings. She opened the season by strikeout a season-high 23 in a 4-0 10-inning win over Mission. She's also hitting .511 (47 of 92) with eight doubles, five triples and six home runs.
