Soccer Game Preview: Evergreen vs. Ponderosa

The Evergreen Cougars will square off against the Ponderosa Mustangs at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Evergreen will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.

Evergreen is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Palisade a 5-0 shutout. Evergreen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by three goals or more this season.

They hit Palisade with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Lucia Spungin (2), Stella Johnson, Taylin Gimbel, and Gianna Weiner.

Meanwhile, Ponderosa won against Highlands Ranch on Friday with two goals and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Wednesday. The Mustangs narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Cheyenne Mountain 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for Ponderosa.

Evergreen's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 34 goals over those seven contests. As for Ponderosa, they now have a winning record of 7-6-3.
