Basketball Recap: Klondike Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Klondike faced off against Wink on Monday. The Klondike Cougars fell 64-51 to the Wink Wildcats. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wink to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aizlyn Dewberry, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. Dewberry has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Finley Frerich, who went 8 of 11 on her way to 16 points and eight rebounds.

Klondike has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Wink, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7.

Klondike will square off against Sands at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Sands will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Klondike surely won't give up without a fight. As for Wink, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 39-31 win against Denver City on the 31st.
