Basketball Recap: Ray Williams' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wellborn over Weaver

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Wellborn can now relate to. They took a 77-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Weaver Bearcats on Monday. The Panthers' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it nine in a row.

Wellborn lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ray Williams, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Williams a new career-high in assists (five). Another player making a difference was De'Andreaz Kelly, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 boards.

Even though they lost, Wellborn was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Wellborn's loss dropped their record down to 2-21. As for Weaver, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-12.

Wellborn does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Weaver, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Weaver Bearcats challenge the Saks Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Weaver's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests.
