Recap: Round Rock Christian Academy Crusaders vs. Live Oak Classical Falcons
The Round Rock Christian Academy Crusaders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They lost to Live Oak Classical on the road by a decisive 72-54 margin. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Round Rock Christian Academy in their matchups with Live Oak Classical: they've now lost nine in a row.
Despite the loss, Round Rock Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Wes Owens, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The match was Owens' fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Eckert, who scored 12 points.
Even though they lost, Round Rock Christian Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Live Oak Classical only racked up 20 assists.
Live Oak Classical's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jayden Ogden, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and seven assists. Ogden is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Tristan Wilson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Round Rock Christian Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. As for Live Oak Classical, they pushed their record up to 21-2 with that victory, which was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Round Rock Christian Academy is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Holy Trinity Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th. Holy Trinity Catholic is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Live Oak Classical, they will head out on the road to face off against Reicher Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Reicher Catholic will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 555th, while Live Oak Classical is ranked 237th).
