Newark won the last time they faced Logan, and Bodie Smith did his part to make sure it happened again. The Wildcats took their match on Friday with ease, bagging a 49-7 victory over the Chieftains thanks in part to Smith, who threw for 377 yards and six TDs while completing 72.7% of his passes. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 3.2 passing touchdowns per game.

Special teams played a big role in the game for Newark, adding 13 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Kolton Peterson, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Newark's defense and their 3.5 sacks. The team can thank one different players for their defensive prowess: Roy Price, who each picked up 0.5 sacks apiece.

Despite the loss, Logan still got an impressive performance from Ethan Courtney, who rushed for 85 yards and one score. Courtney also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making two total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception.

Newark pushed their record up to 3-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points over those games. As for Logan, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Newark will face off against rival Canal Winchester at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 865 yards in their previous games. Meanwhile, Logan is set to square off against their familiar foe Reynoldsburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
