Basketball Game Preview: Pike County Bulldogs vs. Straughn Tigers

The Pike County Bulldogs will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against the Straughn Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses dating back to last season for Pike County and three for Straughn.

Last Friday, Pike County ended up a good deal behind Carroll and lost 48-30. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 363rd, while the Eagles are ranked 154th).

Meanwhile, Straughn has relied on a stalwart defense averaging 27.5 points allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Monday. They took a 55-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Georgiana.

Pike County's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Straughn, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.

Everything came up roses for Pike County against Straughn in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, as the team secured a 42-14 win. Will Pike County repeat their success, or does Straughn have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
