Basketball Recap: Northside Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Northside Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 73-63 to the Ben Lippen Falcons. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Crusaders of the 74-54 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, Northside Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Hilton Dessausure, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 11 rebounds. That's the most points Dessausure has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Weaver, who posted 13 points and seven boards.

Even though they lost, Northside Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive games.

Northside Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Ben Lippen, their win bumped their record up to 15-2.

Northside Christian Academy and Ben Lippen should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings. Northside Christian Academy will face off against South Charlotte at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday up 429 places (80 vs. 509). Northside Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 73.1 points per game this season. Similarly, Ben Lippen (ranked 26th) will meet Providence Athletic Club (ranked 182nd) at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
