Baseball Game Preview: North County Raiders vs. Central Rebels

The North County Raiders are taking a road trip to square off against the Central Rebels at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

North County gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over DeSoto.

Zak Meador spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Jaxon Scherffius was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kendrick Simon, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on April 8th. They blew past Fredericktown 6-0 on Thursday. The Rebels not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 13, 2024 (when they won 9-1).

North County's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-8. As for Central, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Everything went North County's way against Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as North County made off with a 10-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
