Basketball Recap: Wilson Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Wilson Christian Academy played a tough match on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 66-38 defeat at the hands of the Hilltop Christian Chargers. Wilson Christian Academy hasn't had much luck with Hilltop Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Hilltop Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Philip Joyner, who went 7 for 15 on his way to 18 points and three steals. The game was Joyner's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Manriquez, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 14 points and three steals.

Wilson Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Hilltop Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wilson Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Greenville Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Greenville Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.5 points per game this season. As for Hilltop Christian, they will head out to challenge New Life Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hilltop Christian has five straight wins, New Life Christian Academy has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
