Softball Recap: Sloan-Hendrix's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Sloan-Hendrix lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Mammoth Spring, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's match. The Greyhounds were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Bears on Thursday. The Greyhounds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.

Lauren Jones made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rylee Brown, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with six stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kersee Brewer, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Sloan-Hendrix always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .719. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Sloan-Hendrix's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-9. As for Mammoth Spring, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-15.

Looking ahead, Sloan-Hendrix will square off against Hillcrest at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Mammoth Spring does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
