Basketball Game Preview: East Jordan Red Devils vs. St. Mary Cathedral Snowbirds

East Jordan hasn't had much luck against St. Mary Cathedral recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The East Jordan Red Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the St. Mary Cathedral Snowbirds at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, East Jordan strolled past Johannesburg-Lewiston with points to spare, taking the game 54-35. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Red Devils.

June Kirkpatrick continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 16 for 34 on her way to 43 points and six rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of East Jordan's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josephine Kirkpatrick, who posted two points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, St. Mary Cathedral had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 66-42 margin over the Cardinals. The Snowbirds have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 24 points or more this season.

St. Mary Cathedral's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 32 points. As for East Jordan, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.

East Jordan suffered a grim 53-31 defeat to St. Mary Cathedral in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can East Jordan avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
