Soccer Game Preview: Lawrence vs. Shawnee Mission West

Lawrence hasn't had much luck against Shawnee Mission West recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Lions will welcome the Vikings. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Lawrence is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Olathe West on Saturday. The Lions fell just short of the Owls by a score of 2-1.

Lawrence's goal came courtesy of Ginny Besson, who's now up to three this season.

Meanwhile, Shawnee Mission West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 5-1 to Shawnee Mission South. Shawnee Mission West were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 3-0.

Lawrence's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Shawnee Mission West, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6-1.

Lawrence might still be hurting after the 5-1 loss they got from Shawnee Mission West in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
