Softball Recap: Berwyn/Cicero Morton Comes Up Short

Berwyn/Cicero Morton suffered their closest loss since April 8, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of the Oak Lawn Spartans by a score of 5-3. If the Mustangs were looking for revenge after losing 7-1 to the Spartans when the teams met back in April of 2019, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Alyssa Kunz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Abbigail Galvez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Berwyn/Cicero Morton and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for Oak Lawn, the win keeps they at an undefeated 4-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Berwyn/Cicero Morton will square off against Bremen at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Oak Lawn, they will take on Evergreen Park at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
