Lincoln hasn't had much luck against Bedford recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 5:00 p.m.
Lincoln is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest defeat since October 14th on Tuesday. They came up short against Monroe, falling 3-0. Surprisingly, this marked the Railsplitters' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
While Lincoln had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-18, 25-21.
Lincoln's loss came about despite a quality game from Rachel Pomorski, who had seven digs and four aces.
Meanwhile, Bedford had already won five in a row and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They blew past the Bulldogs 3-0. The Kicking Mules not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since October 21st (when they won 3-0).
Bedford never let Chelsea on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 27-25, 25-19.
Lincoln's defeat dropped their record down to 10-24. As for Bedford, their victory bumped their record up to 26-13.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Wednesday's match: Lincoln has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.7 aces per game. However, it's not like Bedford struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Lincoln might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Bedford when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Railsplitters avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
