Game recap: Strong rushing attack provided by Dossett and Shumpert as Itawamba Agricultural high school football team bests Pontotoc

Tyler Dossett ran for two touchdowns and Ashton Shumpert added three as well as Itawamba Agricultural (Fulton, Miss.) bested Pontotoc (Miss.) 42-13 on Saturday.

The Indians were up 21-7 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by Shumpert in the second quarter.

Itawamba Agricultural expanded its lead to 22 points entering the fourth quarter. IA scored two times in the third, including once on a punt return touchdown by Shumpert.

With the win the Fulton school extended its winning streak to eight games. The Indians defeated the Red Raiders 41-6 last week.

The Warriors' Jeb Millender played well. He threw two touchdowns and kicked one extra point.

Led by Shumpert, Itawamba Agricultural came into the game allowing 11.1 points per game. The 13 points that Pontotoc ended with were below its average of 19.5 coming into the game.



When the two teams played each other last season, IA came away with a 35-28 victory.

The loss comes after Pontotoc defeated Tishomingo County 36-29 last week.

Pontotoc (4-5) goes up against Corinth in a 4A Region 1 game matchup next week, while Itawamba Agricultural (8-0) locks horns with Amory also in a 4A Region 1 game.
