Basketball Recap: Talan Starcevich commands the offense for Falcons win

Basketball Recap: Skyline Falcons vs. Riverdale Ridge Ravens

The Skyline Falcons had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They walked away with a 57-47 win over Riverdale Ridge. The victory was all the more spectacular given Skyline's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 175th, while the Ravens are ranked 47th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Skyline to victory, but perhaps none more so than Talan Starcevich, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Starcevich has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Rahman Carson, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Despite the loss, Riverdale Ridge still got an impressive performance from Josiah Fay, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. It was the first time this season that Fay pulled down eight or more rebounds. Marcus D mcfadden was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.

Skyline has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season. As for Riverdale Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 13-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Skyline will face off against the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing isn't great for Niwot: they have been struggling with eight straight losses at home, while the Falcons have snatched up three consecutive wins on the road. As for Riverdale Ridge, they will square off against the Golden Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
