Softball Recap: Archie Wins Going Away Against Hume

After losing to Hume the last time they met, Archie decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Whirlwinds put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 20-1 win on Monday. The Whirlwinds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by ten runs or more this season.

Kyleigh Wilson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Those hits were her first of the season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Archie got a massive performance out of Madison Wilson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs Wilson has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Elsie Parsons, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 4-for-4.

Archie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory got Archie back to even at 3-3. As for Hume, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Archie will head out to take on Adrian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Blackhawks will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Hume, they are taking a road trip to square off against Lakeland at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
