Softball Preview: Broomfield Eagles vs. Horizon Hawks        
        
		
             The Broomfield Eagles will challenge the Horizon Hawks at 3:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. Broomfield will be coming into the  matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
 Broomfield's pitching crew heads into the  contest  hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed  on Thursday. Everything went their way against Monarch as Broomfield made off with  an  11-0 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by eight  runs or more this season.
  Ireland Heer made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   pitching three innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   three  hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in four consecutive pitching appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box,  going 2-for-3 with two  doubles and two  RBI.
 In other batting news,  Lauren Martinez and  Avery Gines did most of the damage at the plate:  Martinez  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 3-for-3, while  Gines  scored two  runs while going 2-for-2.  Lilly Smith was another key player,  scoring two  runs while going 2-for-2.
 Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Broomfield  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 17  hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  hit at least eight  hits in five consecutive  matches.
 Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Horizon's offense. They lost  10-0 to Niwot on Thursday. The Hawks have now  taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
 Broomfield pushed their record up to 17-0 with the  victory, which was their ninth straight  on the road dating back to last season. As for Horizon, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.
Horizon's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them:  Broomfield has been making plenty of contact this season,  having  averaged 13.1  hits per game. It's a different story for Horizon, though, as  they've been averaging 10.3. Given Broomfield's sizable advantage in that area, Horizon will need to find a way to close that gap.
 Broomfield might still be hurting after the  15-3 loss they got from Horizon  in their previous matchup  back in October of 2023. Can Broomfield avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
