Softball Recap: Paterson Charter School for Science and Technology Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Paterson Charter School for Science and Technology dropped their record down to 7-8 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell 8-3 to the Hasbrouck Heights Aviators. If the Lions were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Aviators when the teams met back in May of 2018, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Marley Jackson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Lexi-Marie Feliciano, who earned one run and two stolen bases.

As for Hasbrouck Heights, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.5 runs.

On Hasbrouck Heights' side, Katelin Cowan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks. Cowan has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mackenzie Riordan was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. She has been hot, having posted two or more stolen bases the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ali Monchino, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Looking ahead, Paterson Charter School for Science and Technology will head out on the road to face off against Eastern Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hasbrouck Heights, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 9-5 victory against River Dell on the 3rd.
