Baseball Recap: Hiawatha Takes a Loss

After flying high against Alden-Hebron last Saturday, Hiawatha came back down to earth. The Hawks came up short against the Somonauk Bobcats on Monday, falling 11-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hawks of the 13-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Hiawatha saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Thomas Giebel, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Hiawatha now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Somonauk, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-6 record.

While Hiawatha had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
