Softball Game Preview: Como-Pickton Eagles vs. Hawkins Hawks

It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Como-Pickton Eagles take on Hawkins Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Como-Pickton comes in on six and Hawkins on three.

Last Tuesday, Como-Pickton made easy work of Chisum and carried off a 15-3 victory. Considering the Eagles have won ten games by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Hawkins posted their closest win since February 22nd on Friday. They skirted past Cumby 6-5.

The team relied heavily on Taetum Smith, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Londyn Wilson, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles.

Hawkins pushed their record up to 11-8-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing ten hits in those games compared to only 4.47 in the others. As for Como-Pickton, their record is now 12-7.
