Baseball Game Preview: Fayette County Tigers vs. Curry Yellowjackets

The Fayette County Tigers will square off against the Curry Yellowjackets at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Monday, Fayette County was able to grind out a solid win over South Lamar, taking the game 8-4. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Stallions: they've now won eight in a row.

Kason Rushing was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. Christian Armstrong was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Fayette County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Monday Curry sidestepped Berry for a 9-7 win.

The team relied heavily on Blanton Gillespie, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-5. Curry is 3-1 when Gillespie posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Argent, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Curry's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-6. As for Fayette County, their win bumped their record up to 4-11.

Fayette County couldn't quite finish off Curry in their previous meeting back in March of 2019 and fell 4-2. Can Fayette County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
