            Murphysboro hasn't had much luck against Marion recently, but that could start to change  on Thursday. The Murphysboro Red Devils will hit the road for the first time this season to  face off against  the Marion Wildcats  at 4:30  p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication,  the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Tuesday,  everything went Murphysboro's way against Trico as Murphysboro made off with  a  13-3 win. The Red Devils haven't had any issues with the Pioneers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive  victory against them.

  Corbin Compardo and  Gage Taylor did most of the damage at the plate:  Compardo  scored a  run and  stole  Two bases. while  getting on base  in all five of his plate appearances, while  Taylor  scored two  runs while  getting on base  in four of his five plate appearances. Those  two  stolen bases gave  Compardo a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of  Austin Hunter, who  scored three  runs while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances.
 Meanwhile, Marion gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener  on Tuesday. They walked away with  a   12-9  win over DuQuoin.
 Murphysboro couldn't quite get it done against Marion in their previous meeting  back in April of 2024 as they fell  10-5. Can Murphysboro avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
