Football Recap: Cypress Falls Starts Season with Win Against Cypress Lakes + How To Watch

Cypress Falls gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 41-27 win over the Cypress Lakes Spartans. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Gabriel Wilson and Deron Simpson. Wilson rushed for 135 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 8.4 yards per carry while Simpson rushed for 152 yards and one score on only 12 carries. What's more, Wilson posted two rushing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in October of 2024.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jimmy Alarcon, who rushed for 59 yards and two TDs, and also threw for 129 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Theodis Fields helped out on the ground, rushing for 125 yards.

Coming up, Cypress Falls will venture away from home to square off against Klein Oak at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cypress Lakes, they will welcome Spring at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
