Preview: Hazelwood West Wildcats vs. McCluer North Stars
The Hazelwood West Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the McCluer North Stars at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Hazelwood West has struggled recently with seven losses in a row, while McCluer North will arrive with three straight wins.
Last Thursday, Hazelwood West came up short against Parkway South and fell 54-41.
In what's become a running theme this season, McCluer North gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They breezed by Parkway South on the road to the tune of 57-19. Given McCluer North's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while Parkway South is ranked 319th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hazelwood West has not been sharp recently as the team has lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-19 record this season. As for McCluer North, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-7.
Hazelwood West came up short against McCluer North when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 52-43. Can Hazelwood West avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
